THE BIGGEST GAY PARTY IN ASIA - SHANGRI-LA
Firstly, I should take back my words, that everything is small in Japan. This place is HUGE! Four times a year gays take over the biggest club in Tokyo! It's not centrally located, but that's not an issue at all - trains and even special buses will take you there. They say gays from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei are flying in for this extravaganza (fyi not just Asian tourists).
To get there get on a free bus from Shinjuku or Shibuya, check their locations and make sure you get your free ticket for the trip back as soon as you arrive to Ageha (tickets are available in the pop/bar room where the cigarettes are sold). It's also simple to get there by metro, just get to Shin-Kiba station and follow the gays. I usually take metro there and the bus back (low on energy and the sun is too bright in the morning).
The couple times I went there they had five rooms:
1. Bar / pop area - best crowd, always busy - smiling beautiful foreigners and Disneyland dancers gather here.
2. Huge electro / dance / circuit with lasers area - sometimes not too busy, but certainly nice room with go go dancers - they say they are muscle - for me I would just say fat (sorry for the truth). The music is at times great, but people - meh.
3. A very POP terrace with a pool where people tend to go for a swim even in winter time - you have to be there for sunrise - you will laugh your ass off.
4. K-POP and J-POP tent in the backyard - do not really get what those twinks and daddies like about it, but oh well…lost in translation I guess!
5. Darkroom made out of toilets with the DJ there - two fat (I mean 'muscle') guys will take off your t-shirt before going in. Inside I found just some fat men standing and looking - boring!
There is also a huge backyard for smoking and snacking (Japanese can never drink without eating).
It's always fun there if you're with your friends. If you're alone that can work too, but I would recommend to stay more in pop area and the bar. Entrance fee is usually 4000 yen (without a drink).
