THE MOST EXOTIC GAY NIGHT OUT IN MY LIFE

After a few days in the Cuban nature we finally reached La Habana! The hotels were crazy overpriced, therefore we booked a guesthouse… well a gay friendly guesthouse. Yes, they exist in Cuba! Windowless rooms, foam beds and terrible bathrooms, but the bright colors and super kitschy basic design (if you can call that a design) was super fun! The owner Aleido is the Queen (with a capital Q), his pictures are hanging on every wall.

This rainbow 1* place was a perfect recipe for a god gay night out. At the first dinner, I met Juan from Surinam, who had been here for couple days already and was eager to go out - perfect! As it often happens after a bottle (or 2) of rum on the guesthouse terrace my travel mates went to sleep and I needed party! Juan and I got into the falling apart taxi and paid a couple of dollars to get to the Calle 23 (23rd street) where most of the gay night life is located.

The best party at that night was EL DIVINO. Once we got out of the taxi, we were instantly approached by two boys (well dressed, definitely the cutest in the crowd). Here my problems started as I don’t speak Spanish and hardly anyone speaks English or any other language. Juan had to help me a lot! They asked if we could pay their cover charge $3. While I was super confused as nobody ever asked me for that, my new friend already paid for all 4 of us.

Once inside it was clear we are with a couple of escorts. It’s hard to call them that way as they didn’t look like professionals, they wanted to stay with us, have fun, dance. They were pretty innocent to what I would imagine escort to be. Actually, they were in fact saving us from other more aggressive boys. Once you go to the bar - at least 5 boys will ask you to buy a drink ($2) as everybody is poor and you are noticeably a tourist who has money; therefore, it's good that our ‘friends’ blocked other potential suitors away. Later on we left happily and drunk without the boys, but I do not regret meeting them as I had a blast.

The club itself was very basic. Some metal backyard chairs and tables, some basic stage, couple bars (one in a super smoky basement. As everybody is poor, hardy nobody is drinking. Music is pop + latino sounds, which I’m used to while traveling in Latin America. There was also a decent drag show (with too much speaking) and as finale the strip show which I would call simply go-go dancing. Now these boys were super hot! Somebody told me these are $100 (the regular price tag for straight boys or gays is $25).

We got the taxi back to our guesthouse just to end up in another party. While my travel mates were trying to sleep the staff downstairs was having a true Cuban gay house party! In a minute I was shirtless doing rum shots and moving my ass with locals boys. (In all honesty I will never dance the way they do!) By that time I felt like I also started to understand some Spanish! LOL

Before I went to my room, one staff boy really wanted to talk to me - and OMG he is hot! He spoke a bit of English but was as wasted as I was. He gave me a hug, told me he was straight, married and soon will have a baby. And… asked me if I want to have sex with him…

One of the most interesting nights out in my life. Now it’s time for ratings!
