FANCY HIM - MY ABSOLUTELY FAVE PARTY IN TOKYO AND ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD
Think Japanese hipsters and all the crazy people wearing the crazy and weird costumes meeting once a month to dance for all night long. Nobody says it's a gay party, but it’s pretty obvious - hipsters duh!
My friends and I went there for the first time on Halloween which couldn’t have been a better day to go! Even though people of Tokyo do not like to dress up, this place becomes epic! Women with beards are coming there for years by now. So dress up as much as you’d like because it's never too much for this party!
I'm so glad I had a tip from locals to come early for the stamp, leave and come back when the line is couple blocks long. The best way to kill that hour is to get a bottle of gin and drink it on the temple grounds nearby. I know it's not cool, but that's the only park/square like place around. Also, you need that alcohol as drinks inside are... (later about that).
Inside there are two rooms; one tiny more for pop music, while another one more dance/electro with some guest performances. They always try to fly in some white drag queens or even porn starts who pretend to dance or DJ (and always suck, but it's fun). Some of the resident DJs are amazing. One girl was absolutely killing it. Later I got her name from organizers - she doesn't even have her tracks on Soundcloud! So much undiscovered talent! As usual, in Tokyo this is also a great place to make new party friends.
I totally loved everything about this party except the drinks - you could hardly taste any alcohol (for 700 yen). Make sure you get your alcohol injection in advance (read above) or go to another bars around every hour for some shots. Another way to get hammered is also smiling a lot to the bartenders while asking for stronger drink - which worked amazingly for me. Also later in the night - the more drunk they are the better drinks they make. The entrance fee is rather steep - 3000 yen (including a shitty drink), but it's totally worth it!
